Oudegaaster Brekken

The Oudegaaster Brekken is located eastwards from Workum, as well as the Vlakke Brekken, which are more to the south. An orientation point in the east is the peak tower of the church of Oudega, where also the De Bearshoeke marina is located. In the west, at the boundary with the Vlakke Brekken, there are various possibilities for anchorage. The water in this area is easily navigable (there is an average depth of 1.40 mts.)  Shoals are clearly indicated on maps.

At the Vlakke Brekken’s south shores there are various anchorage possibilities, as well as at the shores of de Grons. De Grons and de Korte Vliet are connected to the Zandmeer, a lake in the west of the Grote Gaastmeer. The Zandmeer and Grote Gaastmeer are the connection between Workum and de Fluessen. These three basins are the less occupied lakes of Friesland.
