Woudsend (Wâldsein)

Woudsend, located between Heegermeer and Slotermeer, is a real boating village. Because of its central position, Woudsend is connected to all important waterways in Friesland. The Slotermeer is for example very near to Woudsend, from where it’s easy to reach Balk, Sloten, Lemmer en the IJsselmeer. The small streets and stores in the centre of the village take you back in the time. In Woudsend you can find everything you need.

An interesting place to visit in the Midstraat is the Prentenkabinet. If you are in Woudsend, you have to visit the sawmill too. The proud of this village is anchored nearby this mill: the Klaas van der Meulen skûtsje (Frisian sailing boat), built 1911. This skûtsje has every year on of the highest positions in the overall standings of the S.K.S. sailing event.
