You are able to sail de Peat Route in the southeast of Frisia on one of Brakel Watersport’s yachts. You can reach this part of the route from Meinesloot and het Deel near to Akkrum, the Opsterlandse Compagnonsvaart in the southeast of Appelscha and from de Tjonger in the south of Heerenveen. The landscapes are as variable as a chameleon: green sights transform into widespread forests and purple heathlands. Do you want to know more about southeast Friesland?

Useful things to know
The waterways in the east of Uilesprong and Mildam tot de Damsluis are only accessible if you have a €15,00 entrance ticket released by Nije Kompanjons Association. These tickets are available at Damsluis in the east of Appelscha, Lock 1 in de Tjonger and Lock Verlaat in Gorredijk. The brigdes and locks in this part of the Peat Route are staffed from 09.00h to 17.00h. On Sundays and Holidays there is no staff present.

It’s free for you to sail from Lock 1 in de Tjonger (between Mildam and Oldeberkoop) to passer-by harbor De Uutwiek in Oldeberkoop. You have to buy an entrance ticket at Lock 1 and after your stay in De Uutwiek you will get this money back. This arrangement only applies to yachts going in the direction of Mildam and will not go further than Oldeberkoop.
